קצוהיקו אוסקה נולד בשנת 1942 והקים סטודיו עצמאי בשנת 1977, לאחר שעבד כמעצב מוצר אצל יצרן רהיטים. בשנת 1993 זכה בפרס הארד של IFDA. העיצוב הזוכה, SORI, הוכנס לייצור מסחרי ועדיין נמכר על ידי CondeHouse, למעלה מ-25 שנה לאחר מכן.
